Concrete sleeper vs timber sleeper - which is better?
Concrete sleepers last decades, look cleaner, and resist termites and rot - a strong default for residential. Timber sleepers cost less up front, suit garden-style landscaping, but need replacement after 15 to 25 years depending on conditions. We can quote both.
How tall can a retaining wall go?
Concrete sleeper systems typically go to around 1.2 to 1.5m residential without engineering escalation. Higher walls need an engineer's design and may step up to besser block or reinforced concrete construction.
Do you install drainage behind the wall?
Yes. Agi drain, scoria backfill and weep holes are installed correctly behind every wall we build. This is the most common reason cheaply-built walls fail in the first five years - hydrostatic pressure with no drainage.
Can you work around existing landscaping?
Yes. We use smaller machines for tight access and protect existing trees, paths, and structures. We'll flag any high-risk root zones during the site assessment.
How long does a retaining wall take to build?
A standard 10-20m residential wall usually wraps in two to four days including excavation, footings, posts, infill, drainage and backfill. Larger walls or wet-weather delays can extend - we lock the timeline at quote stage.
